Deutsche Telekom Architect Launches Tool for Journal Legitimacy
Andreas Florath, a cloud-computing architect at Deutsche Telekom, has developed Aletheia-Probe, a tool designed to help researchers assess the legitimacy of academic journals and conferences. This software aggregates data from multiple databases and uses an algorithm to classify publications as legitimate, predatory, or lacking sufficient data, providing users with a confidence score for each assessment. Aletheia-Probe is available for download on GitHub and aims to streamline the evaluation process for researchers navigating the complex landscape of academic publishing.
£1.1 Million Study Links ME and Long Covid
A £1.1 million study, known as the Rosetta Stone study, will investigate the links between myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and Long Covid, conditions affecting approximately 1.3 million children and adults in the UK. Funded by the ME Association and conducted at Imperial College London, the research aims to identify biomarkers and decode the immunological profiles of both conditions. Harbinder, a mother from Redbridge, has three children diagnosed with ME and Long Covid, who experience severe fatigue, cognitive issues, and mobility challenges.
