NASA to Launch Artemis II Crewed Moon Mission
NASA is set to launch Artemis II from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral on Wednesday night, marking the first crewed mission to approach the Moon in over 53 years. The mission will carry three Americans and one Canadian aboard the Orion capsule for a 10-day journey that will take them approximately 4,000 to 6,000 miles from the lunar surface. Study Finds Cabin Layout Affects Evacuation Times
An international team of researchers has found that evenly distributing elderly passengers throughout the cabin of an Airbus A320 can enhance emergency evacuation efficiency, particularly in scenarios such as a dual-engine fire. The study, which simulated 27 evacuation scenarios, revealed that the fastest layout, accommodating 152 passengers with 30 elderly individuals evenly spread, still required 141 seconds to evacuate, exceeding the FAA's 90-second requirement. The findings highlight the need for tailored safety protocols to address the unique challenges posed by an aging population in aviation.
