Samsung Electronics Co. is set to begin mass production of its sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory, HBM4, next week, following successful certification by Nvidia. The new chips, designed for advanced AI accelerators, are expected to start shipping shortly after the Lunar New Year holiday, positioning Samsung to strengthen its competitive edge in the semiconductor market.
Chinese companies, including ByteDance and Tencent Holdings, are seeing a significant increase in revenue from digital services sold abroad, with the trade surplus from these services more than doubling in 2025 to a record US$33 billion, according to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. This growth is driven by their expansion into live streaming, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence, as the sector encompassing telecom, computer, and information services grew nearly 30% last year. Additionally, ByteDance's new video generation model has led to a surge in shares of Chinese media and AI application firms, with COL Group Co. hitting the 20% daily trading limit and other firms like Shanghai Film Co. and Perfect World Co. rising by 10%.
