Amazon to Acquire Globalstar for $11.57 Billion
Amazon has agreed to acquire satellite company Globalstar for approximately $11.57 billion, or $90 per share, to enhance its satellite communications capabilities and compete with Elon Musk's Starlink. The deal will provide Amazon with Globalstar's satellite operations, infrastructure, and spectrum licenses, enabling the company to develop its own direct-to-device satellite system, expected to launch in 2028. The transaction is anticipated to close in 2027.
