France Unveils Plan to Electrify Energy Sector by 2030
France's Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced a comprehensive electrification plan aimed at reducing the country's reliance on imported fossil fuels, which currently account for 60% of energy consumption. The plan includes doubling state support to 10 billion euros ($12 billion) annually until 2030, with goals to replace 20% of annual gas imports with domestic power and to install one million heat pumps each year. Additionally, by 2030, two out of three new vehicles in France are expected to be electric, as part of broader efforts to modernize energy usage and enhance energy independence.
