Semaglutide Linked to Reduced TSH Levels in Hypothyroidism
A study by Epic Research indicates that semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) medication commonly used for diabetes management, may also reduce thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in patients with hypothyroidism who lose more than 5 pounds. Among 21,538 patients analyzed, those prescribed semaglutide experienced the most significant reduction in TSH levels, averaging -0.55 mU/L, compared to a smaller reduction of -0.36 mU/L in those taking exenatide.
University of Hawaiʻi Team Develops Neutrino Direction Algorithm
A student-led team at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, guided by Professor John G. Learned, has developed a new algorithm to determine the direction of neutrinos, which can provide insights into nuclear reactors and cosmic events. The algorithm, based on a mathematical discovery involving the Frobenius norm, enables researchers to analyze complex two-dimensional data and could have applications in various fields, including astronomy and medical imaging. The research was published on February 6 in AIP Advances.
