Global Solar Power Generation Hits Record Growth in 2025
The International Energy Agency reported that global solar power generation experienced its largest absolute increase ever recorded for any energy source in 2025, generating over 2,700 terawatt-hours, more than double its output from three years prior. Solar energy accounted for over 8 percent of the world's total electricity production and covered a quarter of the rising demand for all forms of energy, while carbon-free sources collectively met nearly 60 percent of the overall growth in energy demand. Additionally, battery capacity additions surged by 40 percent, reaching 110 GW, further supporting the transition to renewable energy.
NASA announces launch of Nancy Grace Roman Telescope
